DAY BOATS & SHORE DIVING

Day Boats and Shore Diving

DAY BOATS

Day BoatsDive Africa is operating one of the most professional day boat operations in Sharm, and we always endeavor to include a large variety of dive sites in every diving package. This ensures that you will experience the wonders of the Red Sea to its fullest extent. Day trips include the spectacular Ras Mohammed Marine Park, Ras Umm Sid and Strait of Tiran, some of the most attractive dive sites in the Red Sea, at no extra charges, (except for the Ras Mohamed National Park entrance fees). We also endeavor to operate with a maximum of 8 divers per guide or even less on private charters. All the boats have restrooms, dry saloon areas, sundeck and dive deck.

We offer a free complimentary transfer service between your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh and our dive center on a daily basis.

On a typical day, our boats depart between 8:00 & 9:00 and usually return approximately 16:00. Please note however, that this could change, depending on the dive location and water conditions.

Please also note that at Dive Africa it is compulsory to do at least one day's diving at one of the less demanding dive sites, prior to diving Ras Mohammed, Straits of Tiran or the wreck of the SS Thistlegorm. Boat night dives can be arranged on daily basis with a required minimum of 6 divers.

Bighorn nembrothaEquipment rental is charged per day, irrespective whether used for a single dive only. Diving equipment can be stored overnight on board our boats or locked in the equipment room at our dive center. The package price for full equipment rental is only applied if diving with Dive Africa. If dives are organized independently of the center, for which rental equipment is required, package price will not be applied, and all equipment rented will be charged on individual basis.

We will also endeavor not to break up existing groups diving from the same boat or change the dive guide, taking in consideration our customers requests and weather conditions.

More conveniently if you would like to do some wreck diving, but prefer not to join a long liveaboard safari, we organize one-day trips (2 or 3 dives) to exciting wrecks including the world-renowned SS Thistlegorm and Dunraven wrecks.

New for 2010! Until recently the only way to make a night dive on the wreck of the SS Thistlegorm was via a liveaboard excursion. Dive Africa Sharm is pleased to announce that all that has now changed. Working in tandem with Wreck Adventures we can offer you an afternoon dive on this famous wreck followed by a night dive arriving back in Sharm el-Sheikh around 22:30. The trip has limited space so early booking is highly recommended as well as the use of EAN32 (Nitrox) for the two dives. For more information contact
Dive Africa Sharm.

New for 2010! It is also now possible to make a day trip to Sha'ab Abu Nuhas, resting place of the wrecks of the Kimon M., Marcus, Carnatic and Ghiannis D. Again, spaces on this very special trip are limited so early booking is again highly recommended. For more information contact Dive Africa Sharm.

SHORE DIVING

Snappers at Shark ReefDive Africa Sharm can arrange guided shore dives to the following sites on a daily basis: Shark's Bay, Ras Umm Sid, Dahab & Nabq. Please note that some of the sites can only be dived if conditions and tides permit.

An experienced guide accompanies all shore dives. The great advantage when diving from shore is that you avoid the crowds that flock to the Red Sea annually, by scheduling your dives during quiet times! Those who visit the Sinai with their families can do one dive either in the morning or afternoon and spend the rest of the day with their families.

At most of the dive sites the shore entry/exits can be done with relative ease, and walking over wide reef plates can be avoided. A large local carpet is utilized for kitting-up on, thus avoiding sand and dirt from getting into diving equipment.

For those who prefer special diving trips we also arrange early morning dawn dives, or late afternoon sunset dives. Observe the coral reef and fish wake up in the morning or settle for the night in the late afternoon. Other shore diving expeditions, which can be joined, include the famous Ras Mohamed Marine Park, diving Sharks Observatory, Eel Garden and Marsa Bareika. Please note that, due to possible currents and adverse water conditions, the Ras Mohamed trip is suitable for the more advanced divers only!

Shore dives are arranged with a required minimum of 2 and maximum of 8 divers. Guided night dives from shore are possible with a required minimum of 2 and maximum of 8 divers.

CAMPING IN THE RAS MOHAMMED NATIONAL PARK

Camping in Ras MohammedFor those of you who fancy getting away from it all, Dive Africa Sharm can arrange camping and diving trips to the Ras Mohammed National Park. The campsite is positioned on the northern shore line of Marsa Bareika and, as such, is off-limits to all dive and snorkel boat activity. This unique condition means that not only is the area above the water very calm and peaceful (it is the desert afterall) but so is the dive site and fish like quiet. The accomodation is army-style tents (alas without a/c) and there is a shower and toilet block nearby. Breakfast, lunch & dinner are provided by the bedouins who manage the site, as well as as much tea (Egyptian and European style), coffee, soft drinks and water you could care for. A typical trip would involve arriving at the campsite around midday, taking lunch before an early afternoon dive and then later a sunset dive (imagine surfacing and finding nothing but the Milky Way above your head!) before your evening meal. Afterwards you can laze by the camp fire and chat or just listen to the Red Sea lapping at the shoreline. The following morning you would typically rise about an hour after sunrise for an early morning dive.  And then, after taking your breakfast, journey back to Sharm. If you expect 5 Star room service on your holiday then this excursion is probably not for you but if you're looking for something a little bit different, wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of Naama Bay and a chance to experience something quite unique then this is for you!
